| Customer Reviews: The Ultimate Red Sox Trivia Challenge January 8, 2010 Larry Underwood (Scottsdale, AZ) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm a big fan of Bill Nowlin; he's arguably the most astute Red Sox trivia buff on the planet, and this book is a wonderful demonstration of Nowlin's incredibly wide base of knowledge. Any true fan of the Red Sox will love exploring this little IQ test; but beware, the questions will challenge even the most knowledgable Sox trivia expert; so you'd better make sure you bring your "A" game to pass this entertaining course of Red Sox history.
As a baseball historian who specializes in St Louis Cardinals trivia, I found myself mesmerized by Nowlin's entertaining question and answer guide; alas, I didn't know enough Red Sox specific trivia to make it to the postseason, but I think I digested enough new material to keep me awake at nights for several weeks now; thanks, Bill!
If you're a fan of one of baseball's most storied franchises - the Boston Red Sox - you've got to grab a copy of this "ultimate test of true fandom"; if you know most of the answers, you obviously have devoted your life to Red Sox baseball; but that's not unusual for most Red Sox fans that I've come across.
As a commercial message, look for the St Louis Cardinals IQ to hit Amazon in the next couple of months; it should be a challenging test of Redbird history, but I've got my work cut out for me to match the efforts of Bill Nowlin!
This trivia book is for all baseball fans December 10, 2009 Jarrod Moore (Gainesville, FL) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
And why is that? Because if you've read Bill Nowlin before you know he's pointed out many times that you can't tell the history of baseball without telling the history of the Boston Red Sox. Therefore, when you put out a comprehensive trivia book with questions that range from elementary level to those among the Ph.D. ranks, and you do so in a new, intriguing format that includes compelling backstory that only an accomplished author such as Nowlin would have access to, what you end up with is not only a fantastic trivia book that any Red Sox fan will absolutely love, but you also get a book that is a timeless memorial to the greatness of our game. I don't care if you are a Yankee fan (and I lean that way myself, believe it or not) this is a great baseball trivia book that just happens to be about the Red Sox. You will love it -- and if it's not for you, then buy it for the person in your life who loves baseball. You want the Yankee companion that goes with it -- different author, same company, same format, here's the link: New York Yankees IQ: The Ultimate Test of True Fandom (Volume 1)
